Frequently Asked Questions
Over the years, we’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions we’ve received in hopes to make your decision making process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Do you have a customer satisfaction guarantee?
Here at Pro Green Carpet and Tile Cleaning, our mission above all is customer satisfaction. We’re more than glad to help you in any situation that arises whether it be spot treatment, wick back cases, or complete re-cleaning of said areas. If at the end of the day you aren’t satisfied, you don’t pay us. Your satisfaction is more important to us than any amount of money can pay.
What cleaning method is best for my carpets?
First, would be to determine what type of carpet you have. If you have residential carpet, a standard cleaning or restoration cleaning would work best. On the other hand, if you have commercial carpet, a standard cleaning or low moisture cleaning would be ideal. If you’re not sure what cleaning method is best for you, give us a call at (650) 315-2669 and we’ll do our best to find you a solution.
I want you to steam clean my carpets with no chemicals, can you do that?
We can use no chemicals to clean your carpets. But, we’d be lying if we said we can effectively steam clean your carpet without using any chemicals. The best alternative would be to use a Eco-friendly green solution to activate and remove 97% of dirt and bacteria, in which case, using no chemicals would not be capable of.
Do you guarantee all spot and stain removal?
Depeding on the age of the carpet, type of fiber, and the substance of the spots/stains will determine if we’re able to remove the spots/stains. There are substances that permanently discolor the carpet that can only be fixed by method of color repair or replacement. We do our best to determine this information and inform the client prior to cleaning.
I had my carpets cleaned, and now the spots have reappeared a week later. What caused this?
This is the result of soil trapped in carpet padding or sub-flooring that moves to the tips of carpet fibers as it dries after cleaning otherwise known as “Wicking”. The only way to prevent this is to ensure that the carpet, pad, and sub-floors are thoroughly dried after the cleaning. The way we prevent this is by placing large commercial fans to substantially speed up drying time and to prevent “Wicking” from occurring.
Should I vacuum before carpet cleaning?
It is recommended to vacuum prior to the carpet cleaning. If not, we can pre-vacuum the areas that are going to be cleaned at no extra charge.
How long will it take to clean my carpets?
The size of the room, method of cleaning, and distance from areas needed to be cleaned to the truckmount all play a factor in how long it will take to clean your carpets. On average, it will take approximately 20-30 minutes to clean a standard size room.
Do you move furniture when you clean my carpets?
Yes, we can move furniture. We use sliders that we place under the legs of heavy pieces of furniture so we can easily move and slide furniture. Afterwards, we place foam blocks under each leg to prevent color transfer on to your carpets. If possible, we recommend you move as much breakables as possible.
How long will it take for my carpets to dry?
On average, a standard steam cleaned room will take approximately 6-8 hours to dry. With large commercial fans in place which we provide, it will take approximately 3-4 hours to dry. A few more factors such as temperature of the day, humidity, and air flow to the cleaned areas will affect drying time. We recommend as minimal amount of walking on cleaned areas as possible. If abstaining from walking on the carpet isn’t possible we provide you with plastic shoe covers to minimize the amount of dirt and/or soil being tracked.
Will the dark traffic areas look like normal again?
In this situation, we recommend a restoration cleaning, otherwise known as a deep cleaning. While we cannot guarantee the dark traffic areas will look like normal again, we can assure you the traffic areas will be clean and appear much lighter than before. The way to prevent dark traffic areas from occurring is to have a maintenance plan in place and to also consider intermintently applying carpet protector to prolong the life of your carpets.
How often should I clean my carpets?
The current condition of your carpet and the amount of traffic play a big role in determining how often you should clean your carpets. If your carpet is well maintained, doesn’t have very many spots and/or stains, not too much traffic, it is recommended you routinely clean your carpets every 6-8 months. If you have very high traffic, a 4-6 month routine cleaning is recommended.
About Our Services
Carpet cleaning, for appearance, and the removal of stains, dirt, and allergens is done through several methods. Clean carpets are recognized by manufacturers as being more visually pleasing, potentially longer-lasting, and probably healthier than poorly maintained carpets. At Pro Green, we have three different methods for cleaning carpet. One being the traditional standard cleaning, two being restoration cleaning (deep cleaning) and lastly, low moisuture cleaning.
Carpet protector repels spills, resists soiling, and blocks stains by forcing liquids up to the surface where they bead up for easy cleanup. You can look at carpet protector as an insurance for your carpet that will prolong the life of your carpets. At Pro Green we use Scotchguard or Teflon protector depending on your specific needs.
Tile & Grout Cleaning
Grout is porous and absorbs all the dirt and debris on it, mopping only spreads the dirt and soil from one side to the other. Pro Green Carpet and Tile Cleaning can restore tile and grout to a better clean. Our grout-sealing product helps maintain the cleaned grout for months and makes your regular home maintenance more effective.
Our upholstery cleaning services are strong enough to clean the deepest stains, and our upholstery cleaner is gentle enough not to damage furniture and safe for your entire family. We make it a priority to get certified in many different areas of cleaning so we can best service you and your cleaning needs.
Whether is bleach, soda, hair-dye, nail polish, or that annoying stain that just won’t come out, you can trust us to get the job done. Color repair is many times more cost-efficient than replacing your entire carpet. We use the highest grade of color and equipment to ensure your satisfaction.
Our odor elimination treatment is perfect for homes, basements, apartment buildings, hospitals, nursing homes, heath care facilities, law enforcement facilities, hotels, motels, commercial buildings, warehouses, restaurants, bars, gyms, containers, kennels, dumpsters, storage units, cabins, yachts, shipping containers, you name it!
What is carpet protector?
Carpet protector forms an invisible shield around each fiber, which resists soil and stains. It repels most liquids, allowing spills/accidents to be removed before staining and wicking can occur. The use of carpet protector is especially important on any known/common traffic areas. This will help reduce dark traffic areas from occurring and prolong the life of your carpets.
How often should I apply carpet protector?
The majority of manufacturers apply a dry carpet protector to all carpets. This protector will wear out over time with your normal everyday traffic. Carpet manufacturers recommend to have liquid carpet protector (Scotchguard or Teflon) re-applied at least once a year, and perhaps more often on heavily trafficked areas.
Stone, Tile & Grout Cleaning
How do you clean tile & grout?
We apply a green or traditional solution specifically made for tile and grout, followed by scrubbing every tile and individual grout line with the proper tile brush according to the type of tile and grout you have. Lastly, we clean using a high pressure tile encapsulation tool connected to our truck-mount that will extract dirt, grime and soil from your tile and grout.
How often should I have my tile and grout cleaned?
As with carpet, there’s a few factors that come into play such as foot traffic, accidents/spills, pets, and children will determine how often you should clean your tile and grout. For the majority of people, a once a year cleaning is sufficient and highly recommended.
What is floor sealer/sealant?
A sealer is a liquid coat applied to the porous surface of the tile or grout, to protect them from oxidation, natural deterioration and day-to-day wear. Sealers are used to protect tiles and grouts from absorbing stains. In other words, sealer for tile and grout would be the equivalent of carpet protector for your carpets.
How long should I abstain from walking on my tile after sealer is applied?
The sealer itself will dry in 30-45 minutes, although it will take roughly 24 hours to completely cure. We recommend minimal traffic on areas where sealer was applied until the next day.
What product should I use to clean my tile and grout if I have sealant applied?
It is highly recommended to use a neutral cleaner or solution to prevent the deterioation of the applied sealer. The use of harsh chemicals and bleach will slowly wear away the sealant and cause it to breakdown.
How long will it take to clean my tile and grout?
An average sized room will typically take 45-60 minutes to clean the tile and grout. Depending on the tile itself, size of the grout lines, pattern of the grout lines, room configuration, amount of soil in the tile and grout will also affect cleaning time. If you choose to have sealer applied, it will take an additional hour or two to allow for proper drying time.
